SMTC Weekly Report 10/8/18
By Andrew Coates, Town Clerk, Aug 10 2018 03:16PM
Items of importance dealt with week commencing 6th August 2018
Following the Amenities Meeting held on Monday 6th August the new equipment to replace the Exmoor Unit has been ordered plus also the new roundabout which after discount is well within the budget set at the meeting. The turnaround period will be three weeks.
The BMX Track has now been repaired and is up and running. The dry weather has been partly blamed for the cracks and holes which did appear.
The Bunting around the Town will be put up next week and should take approximately three days.
Leak in Pannier Market
There is a slow leak at the top end of the entrance of the Pannier Market which appears to be coming from the kitchen area of the Town Hall. We have today put dyes in the various pipe outlets to ascertain where exactly the leak is coming from but so far it has not pinpointed a source. The problem is that to take the cover off the piping in the Pannier Market will entail getting rid of a load of asbestos. This will all take time. If we do not discover the source we will for the moment put a kind of gutter on there to take it away from the centre.
I have been asked by the Church wardens to attend a meeting with their architect to discuss the stonework on the graves by the entrance to North Street. It would appear but I am not yet totally convinced that the Town Council is responsible for all this. I will report back on my findings.
Finance Meeting on Monday 13th August at 8.30am in the Amory Centre.
Planning Meeting on Tuesday 14th August at 6.30pm in the Amory Centre.
Tour of Britain Meeting for Town Organisations on Wednesday 15th August at 5.30pm in the Amory Centre.
