SMTC Weekly Report 6/7/18
By Andrew Coates, Town Clerk, Jul 6 2018 03:56PM
Items of importance dealt with week commencing 2nd July 2018
I have been updated on certain Highways Issues that are in progress around South Molton.
Church Walk Steps and Paths- These will be jetwashed soon as they do become slippery in wet weather. I have asked for repairs to be done on the paths and DCC are looking into repairing the loose slabs.
Road leading to Dart Park- This is still on the Order Sheet so will be completed imminently.
Poltimore Road- This was inspected this week and a works Order has been put through for repairs to the surface.
Tour of Britain
Quotes have been gathered for various items that will be required for the event and this includes large screens for the Pannier Market which I shall be taking to the Finance Committee on Monday. We have today sent out a form for all businesses for various sponsorships which includes advertising on the crash barriers, sponsoring a bike for £250 for the 8 bike races and an advert on the large screens for £400. We have already in the first hour received our first sponsor of £400 for one of the screen adverts.
Old Bicycle Amnesty
There are posters being put up regarding the bike amnesty for the Tour of Britain so if anyone knows of people who would donate a bike please let me know and it can be collected from the Pannier Market.
Gullacombes Open Space
The Open Space transfer at Gullacombes has been delayed until the end of September as the developer has had issues with the contractor down there. I am being updated weekly on this so we can schedule the payments in and the works that need to be done in that area.
Plants on Enhancement
Several businesses have expressed an interest in sponsoring and looking after the planters on the square and this includes paying for the plants and watering them. This would mean the business could put a” Sponsored by” plaque on the planter itself. I cannot see any problems with this but if any Councillor has any concerns please let me know before I give full permission.
Myself , the Mayor and Matt Ray have been inspecting the Central Park play area and as a result the matting around the childrens hut area has been taken away as cigarette butts and all sorts were gathering in the small holes. The park this week and the skate park have both been looking good and tidy.
Health and Safety Report
The Health and Safety Officer came for an inspection yesterday and subject to some recommendations we were praised for our Health and Safety record keeping.
Finance Meeting on Monday 9th July at 6.30pm in the Amory Centre.
